Most Changes Are Small

The majority of price movements generated by Aloja are incremental, a few dollars, pounds or crowns up or down, triggered by one or more of the signals reacts to in order to calculate prices and boost revenue. A tour priced at £85 does not suddenly jump to £150. It might move to £88 first, because booking pace is ahead of expectations for that date. It might come down to £83 if a departure is running behind pace with ten days to go.


These changes are measured, proportional responses, not unpredictable swings.

What Actually Triggers A Change


Aloja monitors a set of demand signals for each product and departure. Some of those are:


  • Booking pace — how quickly seats are filling compared to historical expectations.

  • Lead time — how far the departure date is from today.

  • Available capacity — how many seats remain.

  • Historical demand — how similar dates have performed in the past.

  • Cancellations and rebooking behaviour — shifts in confirmed demand.


The algorithm runs this check every hour. If one or more signals indicates the current price should move, it injects a change, up to once per hour, which means up to 24 times in a single day if signals are consistently firing.

If signals are stable, the price holds. That is worth saying clearly: most of the time, nothing changes. On a quiet day with steady booking pace and no notable demand shifts, a departure might see very mild price movements. On a day where booking pace accelerates sharply, it might see several. The 8,760 annual figure is the cumulative maximum across the year corresponding only to the moments where signals called for action.


What Customers Actually See


Customers do not browse price histories. They see the price at the moment they visit the product page. And, some of them hunt for bargains.

A price that has moved by a few percent since yesterday is indistinguishable from the original. The concern that dynamic pricing confuses customers is rooted in visible, aggressive price swings , the kind that show up as complaints on social media. That is not what Aloja does. Do I lose control of my own pricing with Aloja?


No. Aloja operates within minimum and maximum guardrails set by the operator. Prices will never exceed the ceiling or fall below the floor.
